Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the first game of the 2014 Peace World Cup. While teams representing both nations slog it out on the soccer field, we take a look at how they stack up on levels of peacefulness.
It’s a clear victory here for Croatia, as the country ranks 28th of the 162 countries on the Global Peace Index, a full 54 places higher than Brazil. But it’s not all doom and gloom for Brazil, the country has made progress towards becoming more peaceful and has improved its peace score by 0.7% since 2008.
Of the 22 indicators that gauge levels of peace on the Global Peace Index, Croatia outperforms Brazil on 12. Brazil, however, has the upper hand beating Croatia in six indicators, while the remaining four indicators are a draw.
